Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. is set to receive its first shipment of the world's most advanced chipmaking machines from Dutch supplier ASML by the end of this year, just months behind U.S. rival Intel.
Known as high numerical aperture extreme ultraviolet -- or high NA EUV -- lithography machines, they are the world's most expensive chipmaking equipment, with a price tag of about $350 million each, equivalent to the cost of about three F-35 fighter jets.
