Foxconn to Construct World's Largest Chip Factory for Nvidia

Foxconn is constructing the world's largest manufacturing facility for Nvidia's GB200 superchips in Mexico. The facility will produce key components for Nvidia's next-generation Blackwell computing platform, signalling a major expansion in the artificial intelligence (AI) hardware sector.

Benjamin Ting, Foxconn's senior vice president for cloud enterprise solutions, revealed the project during the company's annual tech day in Taipei. "We're building the largest GB200 production facility on the planet," Ting stated, emphasising the "awfully huge" demand for Nvidia's Blackwell platform.

Foxconn Chairman Young Liu confirmed that the plant is being built in Mexico, where the company already has a significant manufacturing presence. Liu described the planned capacity as "very, very enormous," though specific details were not disclosed.

The move comes as Foxconn, best known as Apple's largest iPhone assembler, seeks to capitalise on the booming AI market. The company has been benefiting from increased demand for AI servers, contributing to its highest-ever third-quarter revenue reported last Saturday.

Nvidia, which began shipping Blackwell samples to partners in August, expects several billion dollars in revenue from these chips in the fourth quarter. The partnership between Foxconn and Nvidia is seen as crucial in meeting the growing demand for AI computing infrastructure.

Liu emphasised that Foxconn's supply chain is prepared for the AI revolution, highlighting the company's advanced cooling and heat dissipation technologies necessary for the GB200 server infrastructure.
